Purdue looks to new clinic to cut health costs

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University officials are expecting a new campus medical clinic to eventually cut health care cost for employees and their families.

The clinic is expected to open this fall on the West Lafayette campus under a $15 million contract with a private provider.

Purdue Vice President Luis Lewin tells the Journal & Courier that administrators anticipate that within three years the clinic will help reduce costs in what is now a $151 million a year medical plan budget.

The clinic will be available to all active employees and dependents covered by a Purdue medical plan. Primary and acute care will be offered, with patients not being charged for wellness coaching, chronic condition management and lab work for blood and other tests.
