Libertyville church fundraiser, auction now at Sports Complex

First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville is moving its annual fundraising auction and entertainment evening to the Libertyville Sports Complex to allow more community members to participate.

The event is from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Proceeds support local charities, including the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity Lake County, Meals on Wheels, The Haven and Youth & Family Counseling.

The family-friendly event, which has raised more than $390,000 for charitable missions since 2002, has been renamed “Chautauqua,” a Native American word meaning “gathering.”

In addition to silent and live auctions of donated goods and services, the evening will feature live music and recreational activities, including gym sports, rock-wall climbing and games.

Local food vendors will sell festival-type foods.

The Libertyville Sports Complex is at 1950 N. Route 45. Tickets cost $10 for ages 4 to 14, $15 for ages 15 and up, or $40 per family. They can be purchased at the door, or in advance at the church office, 219 W. Maple Ave. Food tickets also are for sale.

For more information, call the church at (847) 362-2174.
