‘91 percenters’ are to blame

In the last year, we have heard about the 1 percenters and the 99 percenters. Did you know in Lake County we have our own 9 percenters and 91 percenters?

What is that you ask? In 2011 during the municipal elections on average on 9 percent of Lake County registered voters came out and pulled a ballot and 91 percent sat home.

Lake County has one of the highest property taxes in the nation. This is not the president, Senate, Congress or governor’s fault. No, we own this one, residents of Lake County.

It is our fault for being more concerned about who is on “Dancing With The Stars” than what is going on at our school boards, park districts, villages and townships.

So all that anger you are feeling right now, and wondering why you are being taxed beyond your means. Keep that in check until after the big election in November.

Remember, we have the election that really affects our pocketbook next April.
