$33,000 reward for tips in murdered officer’s case

Despite two arrests, a $33,000 reward continues to be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of offenders in the murder of a Chicago police officer.

Officer Clifton Lewis was killed on Dec. 29, 2011 while working a second job in a convenience store in the Austin neighborhood. Lewis attempted to thwart an armed robbery when he was fatally wounded.

He was an eight-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department.

Two offenders were later arrested and charged with Lewis’ murder.

The Area North Detective Division is looking for anyone with information about the crime. Outside sources and organizations are offering the reward for information that leads to an arrest or conviction in the case.
