Health fraud prevention meeting Thursday in Bellwood

A Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Prevention Fair funded with a government grant is being held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at West Suburban Senior Services, 439 Bohland Ave., Bellwood.

Older adults and those who care for them are encouraged to visit the free event. Attendees will receive information and materials from a number of experts in fraud prevention, including representatives of the Illinois attorney general's office, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG), the Illinois State Police Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program at the Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF) and SMP.

The fair will feature Lina Choudhry Rashid, external outreach specialist at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Regional Office in Chicago, who will discuss the ways the government is fighting fraud. For information, call West Suburban Senior Services, (708) 547-5600.
