Libertyville power savings
Libertyville residents can expect a savings of 44 percent on the power supply portion of their electric bills by late summer. The village board on Tuesday accepted a bid for power from First Energy Solutions of Ohio at a rate of 4.75 cents per kilowatt hour. That compares to ComEd’s new supply rate of 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour. The power supply accounts for about two thirds of a typical bill. The rate is guaranteed for two years and residents are automatically enrolled unless they choose to opt out but there is no termination fee to leave the program at a later time. Residents also will be able to purchase renewable energy at an added cost. Information will be mailed in the next few weeks and residents are reminded that solicitations from other companies are not related to the village’s electric aggregation program. The village will host a town-hall meeting regarding the program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St.
