Nearly four months after suffering a stroke, Sen. Mark Kirk is pushing along in his recovery and can be seen walking on a treadmill and down a hallway with the help of doctors in a video released Tuesday morning. Kirk also released his thoughts in writing that is detailed and clear. Kirk himself describes the events leading up to his hospitalization in detail as “something profound happening inside my skull.” Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">DuPage County mosque plans denied</h3>
It took four years for a plan to transform a West Chicago-area house into a mosque to come before the full DuPage County Board, and it was rejected 15-3 last night. The plan, which has been in and out of the county’s approval process, was on its last limb and hoped to get the OK after the county board’s development committee voted 3-2 to endorse it last month. The DuPage Election Commission officials are losing their credit card privileges, following a report that prompted officials to pursue a broad range of changes. The agency also is planning to revise its ethics and procurement policies. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Pursuit ends with car in Libertyville home</h3>
Less than a week before a court date on a street racing charge, a 19-year-old Libertyville man crashed into a home while eluding police, officials said. About 12:30 a.m. Sunday police began to pursue a speeding Andrew T. Gregory on Route 176, lost him in a neighborhood and found him in the damaged vehicle on a front lawn, police said. Gregory was injured in the crash, and the home was damaged. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Teen seriously hurt in I-355 crash</h3>
Lombard firefighters had to drag a 17-year-old up a slope on a backboard after the teen lost control of his vehicle on I-355 near North Avenue last night and crashed into the ditch, officials said. The Mokena teen was seriously injured in the crash but was speaking with paramedics at the scene. Full story.

Two small accidents are tying things up in the northern suburbs. An accident is being reported at Route 45 and Sand Lake Road near Gurnee while a second crash is slowing things down on Route 41 near Buckley Road. Motorists are asked to avoid construction on Walkup Road from Route 176 to Burning Bush Trail that lasts through November. Full story.

This time is was pitcher Kerry Wood that couldn’t hold a 1-1 tie, giving up 2 runs to the Braves in the bottom of the eighth propelling the Cubs to another loss by a final of 3-1. Full story.

Alex Rios hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the 10th last night to push the Sox to a 5-3 win against the Cleveland Indians late Tuesday. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Quenneville denounces departure rumors</h3>
Rumors of Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville heading to Montreal are just rumors, according to the coach who cleared the air before addressing the dismissal of assistant coach Mike Haviland yesterday. “There was some speculation on other things that were going on here in Chicago about me being somewhere else,” said Quenneville, who has two years remaining on his contract. “But first and foremost, I’m excited about being here in Chicago.
