Hospital traffic can use west Kirchhoff exit

Drivers will be allowed to exit Northwest Community Hospital from the west driveway to Kirchhoff Road for a nine-month study period, the Arlington Heights village board affirmed Monday after

another long meeting during which emotions ran high.

Voting in favor of the proposal were Village President Arlene Mulder and Trustees Thomas Hayes, Mike Sidor, Carol Blackwood, Norman Breyer and John Scaletta. Trustees Thomas Glasgow, Bert Rosenberg and Joseph Farwell opposed the nine-month study.

There are two entrances into the hospital campus from Kirchhoff, but prior to the recent board action all nonemergency vehicles had to exit to Central Road. Residents of neighborhoods surrounding the hospital have complained that traffic can be heavy and dangerous.
