Galesburg mother, daughter graduate together

GALESBURG — A mother and daughter from Galesburg will both graduate from Carl Sandburg College this week.

The Register-Mail reports that Miranda Perry and her mother, Susan Dobson, will graduate together on Thursday. Perry has an associate of arts degree and Dobson earned a nursing degree. Perry says seeing her mother in the hallways isn’t “what you expect from college,” but she got used to it.

Dobson says she studied with her daughter and the two sometimes had lunch together.

Perry is going on to study elementary education at Illinois State University.
