Sowa, Warren celebrate in grand fashion
Megan Sowa’s 17th birthday certainly was happy.
She led Warren to a 10-0 shutout victory over Lake Forest on Monday with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate that included a grand slam, a double and 6 RBI.
Amy Ricci added 4 hits, Jill Fox had 3 hits and Jessica Demski finished with 2 hits, including a 2-run homer, for the Blue Devils, who improve to 26-4-1 on the season.
Demski, also the winning pitcher, went 6 innings and did not issue a walk.
Grayslake Central 4, Crystal Lake Central 2: Brittany Brown hit a double and pitcher Tayler Janda got the win for Grayslake Central.
Antioch 6, Grant 4: Antioch survived an 11th-hour flurry from Grant, which scored all four of its runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Antioch (18-12) got a home run and 2 doubles out of Kaylene Ressler, as well as a triple and a double out of Jessica Peterson and Katie Phillips, respectively.
Phillips was also the winning pitcher, striking out three and walking just one in 7 innings.
Rachel DePouw had a double for Grant.
