Help protect DuPage forests’ natural areas

The Daily Herald recently published a story on an individual’s training routine for the Spartan Death Race. Images showed the person chopping a tree, tossing a boulder and running down a trail with an ax in his backpack at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, activities that are prohibited in DuPage County’s forest preserves and that carry fines of up to $500.

As summer approaches, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County would like to remind visitors that there are many legal and enjoyable forest preserve activities that do not damage our natural resources. For almost 100 years, the district has worked to offer a variety of recreational and educational opportunities for county residents while protecting the valuable natural areas that so many people frequent to relax and unwind.

With this in mind, the forest preserve district asks everyone to help protect and preserve DuPage County’s natural areas by observing posted regulations and reporting any unlawful behavior to our office of law enforcement at 630-933-7240.
