Failed leadership in Wisconsin governor
An April 18 article about Republican Gov. Scott Walker was headlined, “Suburban business leaders impressed with Wisconsin’s governor.” A few positive comments were made about him by the folks in Springfield who listened to him, one of whom said, “It’s good to hear a true leader.” I question this listener’s criteria for being a true leader:
1) Would such a leader fail to address the voters about the issue of collective bargaining in his campaigning for governor instead of creating the issue after the fact? 2) Would a true leader hire a couple of criminal lawyers just in case he is indicted on a charge of election fraud?
3) Would such a leader spend so much time running around the country trying to collect financial support for his recall efforts in Wisconsin?
4) Would such a leader be recalled by more of the Wisconsin electorate than the number of votes which got him the office? And, 5) would such a governor brag that “I thought more about the next generation, rather than the next election”?
6) Would such a leader tell the people of Wisconsin the financial and unemployment condition of the state is improving when the fact is Wisconsin has lost more jobs since his election than any other state? And last, 7) would such a leader take his marching orders from the big money of ALEC members, instead listening to the folks of Wisconsin?
If this is the stuff of true leadership, I wonder what failed leadership looks like.
