Kane County Cougars rally for victory
BELOIT, Wis. — Scoring 4 runs in the final two innings helped lift the Kane County Cougars to a 7-4 victory over the Beloit Snappers on Saturday afternoon at Pohlman Field in the first of a four-game series.
Runey Davis put the Cougars (14-15) on the board in the top of the third with his first home run of the season, a 2-run shot. Murray Watts added his fifth homer of the season in the fifth inning to put the Cougars up 3-1.
Cougars starter Santiago Garrido worked 5 innings but did not figure in the decision.
In the eighth, the Cougars erased a 4-3 deficit when Jorge Bonifacio tripled home Danny Mateo to tie the game. Bonifacio scored on a Michael Antonio sacrifice fly to put the Cougars back in front. The Cougars scored again in the ninth when Mateo doubled home Edul Escobar, and Justin Trapp came across on an error.
