Crews rescue worker trapped in C. Ind. grain bin

MORRISTOWN, Ind. — Authorities say quick action by co-workers probably saved the life of a man who became trapped in a grain bin at a central Indiana business.

Rescue crews were called Thursday night to Bunge Grain near the Shelby County town of Morristown for a worker who was trapped up to his chest in grain.

Dave Sutherlin of the Buck Creek Fire Department told reporters that the crew was transferring grain to rail cars and that other workers quickly shut down the equipment to stop the flow of grain.

Firefighters needed about two hours to free the worker at the business about 15 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Sutherlin says the worker was alert throughout the rescue and was able to walk from the scene to medical workers.
