Sheriff collects 106 pounds of prescription drugs
The Cook County Sheriff's Office collected 106 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs last week at courthouses throughout suburban Cook County.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative is done to get unused, unwanted and/or expired prescription drugs are out of people's homes and disposed of in a safe and healthy manner.
There were five drop-off locations in Cook County. At the Rolling Meadows courthouse 14 pounds were collected; at the Skokie courthouse, 26 pounds; the Bridgeview courthouse, 56 pounds; the Markham courthouse, 9 pounds and the Maywood courthouse, 1 pound.
