Naperville police say man was speeding for sex

Naperville police said they arrested a man over the weekend for driving more than 100 miles per hour while hurrying toward an amorous rendezvous.

Zachary P. Ramirez, 21, of the 1400 block of Fairway Drive was arrested early Sunday morning, said Naperville police Sgt. Tim Black.

Black said that shortly after 2 a.m., an officer conducting speed enforcement clocked Ramirez' black Honda Prelude streaking down northbound Plainfield-Naperville Road in the vicinity of the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve at a speed of 104 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone.

A subsequent check yielded a speed of 111 miles per hour.

Black said the officer also observed Ramirez disregarding a red light at Plainfield-Naperville Road and 75th Street.

According to the report, the officer radioed ahead about the speeding vehicle. By the time another officer spotted Ramirez, he was traveling northbound on River Road. That officer saw Ramirez disobey a stop sign at River and Oswego Street.

Shortly after, the officer conducted a traffic stop. Ramirez did not attempt to flee.

When questioned, Ramirez said he was trying to go have sex with a girl he liked.

Ramirez was charged with speeding 40 miles or more above the speed limit, disobeying a stop sign, disobeying a traffic signal, reckless driving and possession of 2.5 grams or less of cannabis, all misdemeanor charges.

Police had no further information, but published reports indicated Ramirez is free on bond.
