Learn about tree planting, selection

Concerned about the threat of invasive species to trees in your neighborhood? The Lake County Forest Preserve District will host an Arbor Day celebration from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 28 at Rollins Savanna in Grayslake. Twenty assorted trees will be raffled off every hour. One free raffle ticket to win a tree will be distributed to each adult attending. Demonstrations and discussions on tree planting, care and site selection, and prevention and treatment of pests such as the emerald ash borer will be repeated throughout the event. The entrance and parking area are on Washington Street at Atkinson Road, just west of Route 45 and east of Route 83.
