How public transit can help with greener commute

The Chicago region has an extensive public transportation system, with bus and rail services provided by Pace, Metra and the CTA coordinated by the Regional Transportation Agency.

Many communities have bikeways and pedestrian facilities that can be utilized for commuting to work, school or shopping.

By taking public transit or other alternatives, you can help to reduce greenhouse gases and reduce your carbon footprint. A solo auto commuter who switches their commute to existing mass transit can cut their carbon emissions more than 4,800 pounds per year.

Below are some transit and environmental websites for a greener commute.
