Mundelein soccer proposal

Plans to relocate a soccer league from Hoffman Estates to Mundelein are progressing. Mundelein trustees on Monday authorized administrators to prepare a parking variation and a special-use permit that will allow the Pan American Soccer League to create fields and play on Route 45 east of Route 83 on land that’s now a golf range. Officials expressed concern about parking availability, the management of the site and sanitation. They also want the deal, if approved, to be reviewed annually by the village to ensure the fields are being operated properly, Assistant Village Administrator Michael Flynn said. Trustee Ray Semple was the only board member voting against the plan, because of those parking concerns. The board could approve the deal in May.
