Recorder warns of deed scam

Lake County Recorder of Deeds Mary Ellen Vanderventer is warning residents to beware of companies offering to secure copies of residential deeds for a steep fee. Those documents are available to anyone for a minimal fee, and senior citizens can get them for free.
