2 killed in shootings at Calumet City nightclub

Shootings at a South suburban nightclub left two men dead and two others wounded early Saturday.

The shootings started with a fight in the nightclub that spilled outside. Calumet City Police Chief Edward Gilmore told WGN-TV that two people were “already down” when officers arrived about 1:45 a.m.

He says police “did engage the shooter” but did not say whether that person was among the dead or wounded.

Witnesses told the Chicago Tribune that many shots were fired in the club’s parking lot. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not identified those killed, but relatives told the newspaper one was 20-year-old Archie Lee Chambers Jr. of Chicago.

Gilmore says a man and woman were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds.
