Softball
Grayslake North’s softball team settled a split of its two games Saturday.
Kristina Gandy pitched a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the Knights’ 6-0 win over Deerfield, before Glenbrook South pitcher Jen Zucker shut down Grayslake North on 5 hits in a 5-0 victory for the Titans.
Kelsey Borders led Grayslake North offensively against Deerfield, going 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Gandy, Nikki Livengood and Jessica Davis also had doubles. Jordyn Bowen went 2-for-4 for the Knights.
In its second game of the day, Grayslake North (11-7-1) struck out nine times against Zucker.
Bowen was 2-for-3 with a double.
Lakes 17, Niles North 1: Sara Braden and Meghan Milewski each had 4 hits for the visiting Eagles in the nonconference game.
Lakes also got 3 hits apiece from Kaela Bryant and Montana Mang and two each from Jamie Dykstra and Megan Massie.
Barrington sweeps Libertyville: Taylor Oberman homered and tripled for the Wildcats in Game 2, which saw the Fillies complete a sweep with a 12-3 win.
Barrington won the opener 12-10, despite a triple from the Wildcats’ Margaret Haws and doubles from her teammates Oberman, Nicole Kruckman, Haley Hoeksel and Haley Alban.
