Maine West still perfect in CSL North

Maine West junior Ariel Valles came through with her arm and bat on Thursday as the Warriors improved to 13-7 overall and 4-0 in the Central Suburban North.

Valles (9-4) threw a 6-hitter with 4 strikeouts in a 14-3 triumph over Niles North in Des Plaines.

She also went 2-for-3 with 3 runs.

“It was a great offensive effort, with every batter in the lineup earning a hit,” said Warriors coach Amy Gonzales. “It was another solid defensive game, too.”

Other top hitters for West were Holly Wengerski (3-for-3, 3 runs, triple, RBI), Angela Cruz (1-for-2, 2 runs), Abbey Herling (3-for-4, 2 runs, 4 RBI), Katie Fitzgerald (1-for-4, 1 run, RBI), Brie Montmarquette (2-for-3, double, 4 RBI), Renee Pond (1-2, 1 run) and Gina Larucci (1-for-3, 2 runs, RBI).
