Wis. DNR offers bear hunting course

MADISON, Wis. — The state Department of Natural Resources is looking for hunters to take part in the agency’s annual bear hunting course.

The program features classroom and field instruction as well as a real hunt with mentors.

Hunters who are at least 10 years old, haven’t participated in the course and have never purchased a bear hunting license are eligible. Applications must be postmarked by May 25.

The DNR has offered the course since 2005 in hopes of recruiting new hunters. The agency offers similar courses for deer, turkey and duck hunting.
