East Dundee woman dies after collision
An East Dundee woman was killed after pulling onto Route 25 in front of a motorcyclist Wednesday morning, causing a collision that left the motorcyclist in critical condition, according to police.
Donna M. Fritz was taking a left from Balmoral Drive onto southbound Route 25 when the northbound motorcyclist struck her driver’s-side door at 9:05 a.m., police said.
The motorcyclist, 60-year-old Patrick McDougall of Carpentersville, had no time to react, according to witnesses.
Witnesses told police McDougall was driving at about the posted 45 mph speed limit on the four-lane roadway.
“The collision was immediate and was an obvious right-angle impact,” according to a police release.
East Dundee paramedics transported Fritz to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates, where she later died, according to police. Carpentersville paramedics transported McDougall to Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he was in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
Fritz was the only occupant of the 2000 Mitsubishi, and McDougall was riding alone on the 2002 Honda VTX 1800, police said.
The cause of the crash was the failure to yield after the stop sign at the intersection, according to police.
Route 25 was shut down between routes 72 and 68 from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
