Paddock promotes Stone, two other executives

Paddock Publications Inc., publisher of the suburban Daily Herald and other print and online products, has announced three promotions among its executives.

Scott Stone, of Sleepy Hollow, has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of the company. His election took place at a Paddock Publications board of directors meeting earlier this week.

“Scott continues to grow as a top-level officer of our company, taking on new assignments and providing strong leadership in all areas under his direction,” said Douglas K. Ray, company chairman, CEO, president and publisher.

The appointment was a promotion in Stone’s position as an officer with the Arlington Heights-based company. A 14-year Daily Herald employee and veteran journalist, he had been appointed senior vice president/general manager a year ago. During the past several years, he has advanced through senior management positions of increasing responsibility in revenue-related departments and in general management. He is responsible for the company’s advertising, circulation, human resources, interactive and marketing departments as well as its Niche division and the Business Ledger and Reflejos publications.

“We have gone through many changes in the last decade and will go through many more in the years to come,” Stone said. “The world is changing and our business is changing with it. But the core of what we do — providing reliable, trusted and consistent local news and information and serving our many readers and advertising customers each day — will not change. I am excited to be a part of this evolution and look forward to working with the talented and dedicated staff here on the challenges and rewards that lie ahead.”

The board also promoted Jim Galetano, of Rolling Meadows, to senior vice president/director of circulation; and M. Eileen Brown, of Itasca, to assistant vice president/director of strategic marketing and innovation.

Galetano is a 42-year employee and has worked to improve circulation sales and service and is a key manager involved in fostering new audiences for the Daily Herald, Ray said.

Brown’s new role will focus on strategic marketing and promotions, special events and sponsorships, which are areas of growth for the company.

Brown has been at the Daily Herald for more than 30 years, working as a reporter, travel editor, features editor, managing editor for five years and, most recently, as the director of innovation. She has worked as an entertainment editor and columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and served as vice president and editor for the Post-Tribune in Northwest Indiana.
