Israel's Bar-Ilan University Hosts Chicago Summit 2012
CHICAGO - The world is at a crucial crossroads and the Middle East – and Israel in particular – is at its junction. The Bar-Ilan School of Communication of Israel is organizing a week of events in Chicago and the suburbs beginning Tuesday, May 1 and continuing through Sunday May 6.
Just a few days before the NATO summit will take place in Chicago, participants will have the opportunity to listen to academic experts and ask them the questions they need answered. Bar-Ilan is reaching out to Jews and Christians; men and women; and people of different nationalities, who will be impacted by current events and where they may lead. The six-day event features presentations, lectures and panel discussions. Participating speakers for Chicago Summit 2012 include:
Yaffa Zilbershats, Deputy President of Bar Ilan University. Professor Zilbershats oversees the university's development, public relations and communications operations, and brings a keen understanding of the strategic importance of positioning Bar-Ilan University in the Israeli and international communities.
Eytan Gilboa, Director of the School of Communication, Bar-Ilan University. Professor Gilboa is a world-renowned expert on international communication, public diplomacy and U.S. policy in the Middle East. His most recent book is US-Israel Relations in a New Era: Issues and Challenges after 9/11.
Sam Lehman-Wilzig, a professor at Bar-Ilan University who specializes in New Media, with particular emphasis on their social and political ramifications. His courses include “Internet Revolution”, “ New Media: Technology & Society”, “The Life Cycle of New Media” and “The Information Age”.
Guy J. Golan is an associate professor in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication's Public Diplomacy graduate program at Syracuse University. His research focuses on International political communication and public diplomacy examining such topic as issue management, mediated public diplomacy and global public opinion.
Charles Lipson and Tom Ginsburg, professors at the University of Chicago, are also featured along with several other scholars.

The School of Communication at Bar-Ilan University is one of the best in Israel. It provides academic degrees programs (BA, MA, PhD) a professional training department, five research centers, and several media facilities. The school is headed by Professor Eytan Gilboa, a world-renowned scholar in International communication. The School's faculty includes world-renowned scholars and experts, several of whom have pursued successful careers in Israeli media. This September, it will inaugurate two groundbreaking programs that are the first of their kind in Israel: An undergraduate program in English for overseas students as well as a graduate program in International Communication.
