South Elgin splits with PR: Senior Sam Bolin fired a 4-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk as South Elgin salvaged a nonconference split with Prairie Ridge, winning the second game 7-1 after losing the opener 5-0. Victoria Watt (2-for-4, 2B), Alyssa Buddle (2-for-3) and Bolin (2B) led the Storm offense in Game 2 as Bolin (5-6) outpitched PR lefty Kirsten Stevens. In the opener, the Storm (6-13) managed just 4 hits off PR’s Courtney Emricson. Buddle was 3-for-3 with a double and Paige Allen suffered the loss.

Burlington Central 5, Geneva 3: Bekah Harnish went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Rockets (11-7) to a nonconference win. Angie Morrow (6-3) struck out 8 and didn’t walk a batter in earning the win.

Jacobs splits: Jacobs came back from a 10-1 loss in Game 1 to beat Schaumburg 7-3 in Game 2 and split a nonconference twinbill. Mckayla Lein (4-2) won Game 2 for the Golden Eagles (8-6). Alyssa Lach went 2-for-3 with a triple, home run and 2 RBI and Maggie Hansen drove in 2 runs. In the opener, Hansen and Lein each had 2 hits for Jacobs and Tori Berg (3-3) suffered the loss. Jacobs made 5 errors in the opener.
