Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

The Streamwood girls soccer team had a winning Saturday, taking 3 games at the St. Edward tournament. The Sabres beat Elgin Academy 2-0, Westminster Christian 3-0 and Harvest Christian 4-0.

Stephanie Brown had 4 goals on the day for the Sabres (6-9-1), while Tawny Carrol had 2. Bri Spike, Taylor Ford and Lilly Orozco each added one goal. Bri Roppo registered 2 shutouts for Streamwood and Natalie Guindon had the other.

In other games, St. Edward defeated Westminster 4-0 and Elgin Academy 3-0, while EA downed Harvest Christian 2-0 behind 2 goals from Ashley Barnes and 3 saves from Alysson Wittmeyer, and Harvest and Westminster tied 2-2. McKaila Hays scored both goals for Westminster, while Callie Arosen and Brittany Salazar scored for the Lions (2-6-1).

At DeKalb: Burlington Central tied Hinckley-Big Rock 1-1 and rolled over Yorkville 9-0 at the DeKalb tournament. Calli Andrew scored against Hinckley and Caitlin Solberg had 5 saves. In the win over Yorkville, Camille Dela Cruz had a hat trick for the Rockets (7-4-1). Maddie Stoneman, Ellen Jayne, Taylor Martin, Catherine Kaynish, Tatiana Reynoso and Alyssa Messina also scored and Solberg made 1 save in goal.

Morton 3, Dundee-Crown 1: Hannah Larsen scored Dundee-Crown’s only goal in this loss at the Rolling Meadows/Lake Park tournament. Ali Sanders had 3 saves and Allison Bakewell 7 for the Chargers (1-11).

Hampshire 5, Round Lake 0: Jori Anderson and Alex Zeller had 2 goals each and Natalie Starrenburg added a goal and 2 assists as Hampshire rolled to an easy win at the Richmond-Burton tournament. Morgan Beaver and Stacey Krach each made 1 save in the net for the Whip-Purs (5-4-3).

Wheaton North 2, Huntley 1: Delaney Loprieno scored Huntley’s goal in this loss in the Pepsi Showdown. Jessica Galason and Kelli Rubino shared time in goal for the Red Raiders (5-4-3).

Hersey 1, Jacobs 0: Alyssa Koeppler made 7 saves for Jacobs but the Golden eagles (7-5-2) couldn’t find the back of the net in this Pepsi Showdown loss.

CL South wins 2: Cella Albuquerque scored both goals for the Gators in a 2-1 win over Waukesha (Wis.) at the Prospect tournament. Gianna Disano and Kara O’Malley shared time in goal. South (7-6-2) also beat Wauconda 1-0 on a goal from Macky Taleone.

Wonder Lake (Iowa) 2, Elgin 1: Jennifer Lopez scored for the Maroons (0-10) in this loss at the Prospect tournament. Marisela Mascote had 10 saves in goal.
