Gandy powers Grayslake North
Kristina Gandy homered twice and knocked in 5 runs, as Grayslake North’s softball team cruised to a 19-0 win over host Johnsburg in Fox Valley Conference action Friday.
A 10-run sixth inning capped off the win.
Gandy also earned the victorry, striking out nine and yielding only 3 hits.
The Knights’ other big hitters were Megan Mertins (1-for-1, 3 RBI), Jordyn Bowen (1-for-4, 3 RBI), Brooke Tracy (3-for-5), Kelsey Borders (1-for-5, RBI), Nikki Livengood (3-for-5, 3 RBI), Jessica Davis (2-for-5), Marli Kram (3-for-4, RBI) and Mariah Gentile (1-for-2, 2 RBI).
Grayslake Central 12, Woodstock 2: Caitlin Flary belted a bases-loaded double to score all 3 base runners, and Anna Strickland went 3-for-3 and scored the winning run on Jamie Brew’s line drive, as the Rams captured the Fox Valley Conference decison.
Tayler Janda got her second consecutive FVC win. She got defensive help from Taylor Peterson, who made what coach Abbey Tadelman called an outstanding catch on a line drive to right field.
“The Rams continue to play solid defense,” Tadelman said.
