“Unsinkable” Titanic history discussed on 100th anniversary

“RMS Titanic: 100 Years Later” is the topic at the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society’s monthly membership meeting on Monday, April 16.

The meeting fall on the day after the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

The Titanic left Southampton, England on April 10, 1912. Five days later, more than 1,500 people lost their lives in the North Atlantic Ocean when the ocean-liner struck an iceberg.

Join the Waukegan Historical Society’s Ty Rorher in his presentation about this historic event. Explore how the sinking of the “unsinkable” ship shocked the world, how it was reported here and who was involved locally.

All of the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society meetings are free and open to the public. Anyone who is interested in attending a meeting or joining the organization is welcome.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at the Cook Park Library, 413 North Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
