Restrict guns to inside homes

The Constitution was written by generally common-sense farmers and businessmen. The time was after the Revolutionary War when America was invaded by British, French and German mercenaries. All citizens were granted the right to have firearms to defend themselves in their homes.

We are no longer in danger of invasion. Honor the Constitution and outlaw handguns and assault weapons outside the homes. These can only be considered for attempts to commit murder or threaten to commit murder. Hunting rifles and shotguns should be excluded and used in hunting areas only and transported unloaded.

Switzerland’s gun law requires each household to have a defensive firearm in the house. Lets have Congress ignore all lobbyists and special interest groups, and show some backbone and, along with Supreme Court approval, pass and act upon the same type of law. This should, with due police action, control and eliminate drive-by shootings and other similar act of violence.
