Walk/run for Wellness Place in South Barrington

The Wellness Place is planning its third annual community cancer event to celebrate survivors and remember loved ones with the Wellness Place Community Cancer 1 Mile Walk & 5K Run on Sunday, May 20, at The Arboretum of South Barrington.

A cancer diagnosis starts a roller-coaster ride of uncertainty and questions. The Wellness Place provides free counseling, support and education to people with cancer, their family and loved ones.

Every step makes a difference in the lives of those facing cancer.

Event activities include a 1-mile walk and 5K run followed by a balloon release celebration of survivors and those touched by cancer. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the opening ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K run and 1 mile walk.

“This is the third year for our event and we are really looking forward to the new Arboretum location,” said Pam Reiss, executive director for Wellness Place. “Getting together for the walk and run, and watching the balloon launch is so inspiring for participants, volunteers and people from the community.”

Proceeds generated benefit Wellness Place cancer-related counseling, education and support programs provided at no charge to survivors, families and caregivers.
