Des Plaines hosts annual community garage sales

The eighth annual Des Plaines Community Garage Sale begins Friday, May 4, for the 60016 ZIP code, when households in that area may host garage sales from that day through Sunday, May 6.

For the 60018 ZIP code, the annual Community Garage Sale begins Friday, May 18, when households may host garage sales from Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20.

In the case of extreme weather conditions during the weekend of May 4-6, a rain date has been set for May 11-13. In addition, in the case of extreme weather condition during the weekend of 18-20, a rain date has been set for May 25-27. Participating households will have the $6 garage sale permit fee waived on these dates only. The alternate date shall only be in effect if major storm events prohibit the sales completely.

Prudential Starck Realtors, the corner of Golf and Elmhurst Roads, is again promoting the sale by providing signs to participating residences and compiling a map of garage sale addresses.
