Ceremony postponed for fallen Elgin Marine

The recognition ceremony planned for Marine Cpl. Alex Martinez, scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, has been postponed at the request of Martinez's wife.

The Elgin marine was killed last week in Afghanistan. Visitation is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with a funeral service set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Life Changers International Church, 2500 Beverly Road, Hoffman Estates.
