Salvation Army to kick off kettle campaign in Carpentersville

Join The Salvation Army Elgin Corps as they celebrate the start of the holiday season at their Red Kettle Campaign kickoff ceremony from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Otto Engineering, 1800 S. Lincoln Ave. in Carpentersville. Refreshments and entertainment will be from 6 to 7 p.m. The formal program kicks off at 7 p.m.
This festive celebration will include musical performances by the jazz and choral ensembles from Dundee-Crown High School. state Sen Michael Noland, 2012 Elgin Red Kettle chairman, will kick off the campaign. The evening will culminate in the ringing of the “Captain’s Bell” signifying the official start of the Christmas season.
The kickoff is free and open to the public, a joyous start to the annual Red Kettle campaign which generates nearly 70 percent of the funds used year-round to provide programs and services to people in need.
The iconic red kettles will hit the streets in Elgin and Carpentersville on Thursday, Nov. 15.
