Fire damages Downers Grove auto dealership

A fire caused roughly $250,000 damage Sunday to an automobile dealership in Downers Grove, authorities said Monday.

No one was injured in the blaze that was reported at 4:07 p.m. at Ultimate Motor Cars, 2055 Ogden Ave. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters forced open the front door to gain entry to the building and search for possible victims. They also pulled down the ceiling to douse the fire that was contained to the ceiling and roof.

Firefighters said it took about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. There was no sprinkler system in the building and no fire alarm system.

Downers Grove firefighters were assisted on the scene by crews from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District and the Oak Brook Fire Department.
