Aurora man killed in single car crash in Oswego
A 21-year-old from Aurora was killed early Saturday morning on a semirural road in Oswego, authorities said Monday.
Cesar Achoa, 21, was killed after his white Honda drifted across an oncoming lane of traffic, through a ditch and then flipped over an embankment sometime either late Friday or early Saturday morning, Oswego Detective Rob Sherwood said.
He said tire marks at the crash scene show Achoa was heading west on Route 30 between Douglas Avenue and Route 34 when he crossed the eastbound lane of Route 30 and drifted off the road.
Sherwood said it's unclear whether the vehicle rolled over more than once. He said there were no indications the driver attempted to stop the car after heading off the road.
Achoa was the sole occupant of the vehicle, Sherwood said.
“We are still investigating to find out when he was last seen and where he was heading,” Sherwood said. “It makes it harder because there were no witnesses to the crash.”
Sherwood said no autopsy is scheduled, but toxicology tests will be taken to determine if Achoa was impaired at the time of the crash.
He said it will take at least two weeks to get the results of those tests.
