Two Grayslake Historical Society programs in April

The Grayslake Historical Society will host two public programs in April.

On Wednesday, April 11, the society will discuss a history of the Dr. Gaspar Goshgarian family in Grayslake and Avon Township.

Retired Lake County judge John Goshgarian will talk about his father who was a surgeon and family doctor in the early 1940s. He was also a businessman and civic leader in the Grayslake and Round Lake areas.

The program will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.

A popular attraction at the museum is the medical office of Dr. Goshgarian, circa the 1940s. It is a recreation of his medical office above the garage of his home on Washington Street in Highland Lake.

The second program is a reminisce session is set for Saturday, April 14. It will include participants talking about their recollections of disasters in the village, including several fires, a flood and the storm last summer that left many residents without electricity for several days.

That program will begin at 10 a.m. in the museum’s community room.
