Sheila Simon appearing at Democratic fundraiser

Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon will be the guest of honor this month at the Naperville Township Democratic Organization’s Magic Moments fundraiser.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Black Finn American Saloon, 16 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville.

Simon serves as chairwoman for the P-20 Joint Education Leadership Council, whose goal is to make sure there is a seamless transition from preschool to grad school to the workforce.

She recently completed a tour of all community colleges in the state and is leading efforts to increase college completion rates, especially among community colleges.

Simon recently was selected to be the chairwoman of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association, a position she will hold for two years. She is Gov. Quinn’s point person on education.

She also performs with a band, Loose Gravel, and selections from their CD will be played during the evening.
