Elgin Marine killed in Afghanistan

A 21-year-old Marine from Elgin died in combat in Afghanistan on Thursday, Defense Department officials said Friday night.
Cpl. Alex Martinez died Thursday while conducting combat operations in the Helmand Province, according to a news release.
He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Pendleton, Calif.
