Chargers take Wolves Cup Silver ‘A’ Championship

The Northwest Chargers Mite top team won the NIHL Wolves Cup Silver “A” Championship on Sunday, March 11. They defeated the Naperville Sabres 4-0 at Inwood Arena in Joliet.

The game’s Most Valuable Player award went to their center Kyle Kudrna from Bartlett. Kudrna had a strong presence as he scored in each of the four playoff games.

The Chargers won three previous playoff games to get to the championship by defeating Glenview Stars, Highland Park Falcons and the Northbrook Blue Hawks. The Chargers only allowed two goals in all four games. In addition the Chargers ended up winning the NIHL Presidents Cup which is awarded to the team with the best season record. The Chargers had just one loss for their regular season and finished in first among 16 teams.

The Charger roster is as follows: Colin Carlstrom, Sofia Farias, Caden Hansen, Adam Valentini, Patrick Gull, Ty Nagy, Colin Holtz, Mattix Matusiak, Riley Klatt, Kyle Kudrna, Mikey Wagner, Johnny Murray, and George Pavlus. The team is lead by head coach Rich Kuzmeski, along with assistant coaches John Farias and Matt Nagy. The team manager is Melissa Carlstrom.
