Maybe they should call it Breuder U.

After reading Professor Richard H. Jarman’s letter of March 24, regarding College of DuPage faculty contract talks, I was reminded of a letter to Fence Post I wrote last December and never sent.

Having driven down Lambert Road daily for 25 years, my summation of everything going on there is that eventually COD will become a four-year school and will be renamed Breuder University, after college President Robert Breuder. My former letter referenced the depreciation schedule for the landscaping alone that is being paid for by taxpayers. Now I read that another $9 million has been budgeted for landscaping in 2012. Oh my.

If contract talks with the COD Faculty Association are being handled in the same way negotiations with the village of Glen Ellyn went, I believe our taxpayer dollars are being wasted. A beautiful campus cannot work if the quality of education is not the highest priority.

The example being set here is saying to the young people attending Breuder University that honesty, respect and integrity are not a priority as stated by Professor Jarman and I agree wholeheartedly.
