YWCA Lake County is Celebrating 90 Years!

YWCA Lake County will celebrate its 90th anniversary at a Community Birthday Party from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. The celebration will be at the Adult Education Department Gymnasium at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St, Building 7, Grayslake. Admission is 90 cents and a new children’s book.

There will be activities for adults and children, as well as “birthday party” food, games, and a brief program of the YWCA’s history and the impact on those served. The U.S. Navy Color Guard and the Grayslake Central High School Jazz Choir will also perform.

“Ninety years ago, the Women of Vision rallied together to formulate an organization that would become a driving force for Lake County women,” YWCA Lake County Executive Director Janice Bennett said. “Their vision has endured through programs that assist over 20,000 women and families yearly, particularly in underserved communities, to be empowered to achieve a better quality of life for themselves and their families.”

The YWCA will work with Bernie’s Book Bank to distribute collected children’s books throughout Lake County.

To register for the YWCA Community Birthday party, visit ywcalakecounty.org or call (847) 406-5692 by Friday, April 9.
