Author discusses new book with Glen Crest students

Visiting with a select group of sixth- to eighth-graders at Glen Crest Middle School in Glen Ellyn on Tuesday, April 4, author Michael Grant held their attention for a full hour.

His latest book is titled "BZRK" and the subject matter fascinates all three grade levels. The middle school students have really enjoyed Grant's series that began with the book titled, “Gone.” There are five books in that series and the last book is titled ,”Fear.”

Grant shared with the audience that he has published 150 books, written 5 million words and never learned to type. He uses the two finger typing method and occasionally uses one thumb. His wife is his writing partner and has co-authored several of the series he is famous for.

"BZRK" is about 21st-century warfare that takes place on the macro and nano level in a war for the highest stakes: humanity's free will.

“It's a world where if you make a false move, you will lose your mind,” Grant explained. He illustrated all his descriptions of plot with a power point program that contained some points that really scared his audience and other points designed to make them laugh. A question and answer period followed the program with a book signing concluding Grant's visit to Glen Crest.

Tuesday evening he traveled to Naperville where he appeared at a local bookstore. The Glen Crest students list him as their favorite author this year.
