“The Pacific” author to visit Wisconsin

MADISON — The author of “The Pacific” is set to visit Madison for a Wisconsin Veterans Museum fundraiser next month.

Hugh Ambrose, son of the late historian Stephen Ambrose, is scheduled to appear at the Monona Terrace gala on Thursday, May 3. Attendees will be able to join Ambrose for a reception and listen to him speak about “The Pacific.”

The best-selling book is a non-fiction account of a group of U.S. Marines who battle the Japanese during World War II. Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman produced a companion miniseries that ran on HBO.

Tickets are $175 for the reception and dinner or $125 for dinner only. Anyone interested can purchase tickets by calling 608-264-6086.
