Des Plaines Marine honored for poetry
Robert A. Hall of Des Plaines has been awarded the 2012 Robert A. Gannon Award, given for a distinguished volume of original verse by a Marine poet dealing with Marine Corps life. The award will be presented at the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s annual awards ceremony April 21 at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va. Hall is being recognized for his book, “Old Jarhead Poems.” Marine Corps Heritage Foundation President and CEO Lt. Gen. Robert Blackman, Jr., USMC (Ret) will present the awards and Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos will be the keynote speaker. Seventeen awards will be presented to individuals who have contributed to advancing and preserving Marine Corps history.
