Grayslake Central rallies to earn win
Anna Strickland’s walk-off single allowed Grayslake Central’s softball team to finish its spring training trip to Florida with a comeback win.
The Rams edged Bayside (Fla.) 6-5 Thursday, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Grayslake Central trailed 5-3 with two out and none on in the bottom of the seventh when Caitlin Flary singled to left.
Tayler Janda then reached on an error. Kourtney Passarella came in to run for Janda, and both runners moved up on a passed ball.
That set the stage for Kati Brew, who, on a 3-2 count, doubled to left field, driving both runners in to tie up the game. Strickland then fell behind 0-2 before lining a single to left, scoring Brew for the winning run.
Janda allowed only 1 earned run in a complete-game effort, as the Rams finished the week 3-3 in Orlando.
