Clintonville Wisc. asked to report booming to scientists

MILWAUKEE — The U.S. Geological Survey is asking Clintonville residents to report any booming and rumblings to their website.

Geological officials said Wednesday they are considering putting a seismometer in Clintonville, after booms and rumblings shook residents again Tuesday night. A 1.5-magnitude earthquake was detected last week and since then residents have reported less intense booms less frequently up until Tuesday night.

Geological Survey spokeswoman Heidi Koontz says residents reporting the events to them helps seismologists and geophysicists better understand what’s going on. City Administrator Lisa Kuss (kus) says she still wants residents to inform police at the nonemergency number.
