Oakton College board approves nominal tuition increase

The Oakton Community College board of trustees recently approved a $2.75 per credit hour tuition increase for the 2012-2013 academic year. The increase goes into effect this summer. In-district tuition will increase from $91 per credit hour to $93.75 per credit hour. Out-of-district tuition will remain at $287.88 per credit hour. Officials said Oakton’s tuition remains well below what other community colleges in the area are charging and it is the only college in the collar counties still charging less than $100 per credit hour for in-district tuition. The increase will generate roughly $550,000 for the college’s general operating fund.
